1st CENTRAL recognised for outstanding fundraising in Sussex

Sussex-based insurance company, 1st CENTRAL, were awarded for their continued fundraising activities, which have raised nearly £50,000, from the High Sheriff of East Sussex, Juliet Smith, at the St Peter & St James Hospice in Lewes on Tuesday 8 December.

Everyone at St Peter & St James Hospice is extremely grateful to 1st CENTRAL for all their hard work in raising funds in support of the Hospice. The company, based in Haywards Heath, has held a variety of events over recent years to raise funds, including an online auction, abseiling, zumbathon, individual challenges, cakes sales and lots more.

Colin Burgess, Chief Executive of St Peter & St James Hospice, said, “I was delighted to welcome the High Sheriff, Juliet Smith, and 1st CENTRAL to our hospice and to show them around the recently opened Beacon View Wellbeing Centre. 1st CENTRAL has made a huge contribution to the fundraising needs of the Hospice and it was great to have the opportunity to give them our personal thanks and recognition for all their hard work.”

The St Peter & St James Hospice care for patients from Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, Lewes, Uckfield and the surrounding villages and last year, provided care for more than 600 patients and their families. All of the Hospice services are free of charge but fundraising is key for them as they receive less than 14% of their funding from the Government.

St Peter & St James needs to raise £2.6m each year and relies on 86% of its funding coming from the community. The Hospice always needs support and donations are welcomed at all times.

Andy James, UK CEO of 1ST CENTRAL, said, “We are delighted to have exceeded our goal of £40,000. The Hospice makes a real difference to the people that use its facilities and we hope the money raised will support them in continuing their great work in the years to come.”
