Search Seven announce a landmark event for the S7 Ted’s Trophy as they celebrate five years as an agency and passing £1 million in turnover, with the next charity football match to be held at the AMEX Community Stadium on 23rd May 2017 in aid of the Trevor Mann Baby Unit at the Queen Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton.
The S7 Ted’s Trophy charity event is organised by Search Seven, a local, award-winning digital marketing agency. It has been a tremendous success since 2014 with over £8,000 raised for the Trevor Mann Baby Unit (TMBU), a specialist unit for the care of premature and sick new-born babies situated within the Royal Sussex County Hospital.
As well as supporting other charities and local community projects, and taking part in other events throughout the year, the S7 Ted’s Trophy has now become the flagship fundraiser for Search Seven, with previous events including a golf event in 2015 and another football match the year before.
The charity events have been arranged to highlight the great work of the TMBU and, in particular, to express thanks for the incredible dedication that the whole unit showed to help Ted Macdonald, who will turn five this October. Cared for by the amazing staff, Ted fought his way back from almost not surviving, or from suffering long-term brain damage, to living the full life that he does today.
Ted is the godson of Search Seven founder and MD, Gavin Willis. In light of the last few events, he said, “We have been completely overwhelmed by the support we have received year on year. It has been truly fantastic, and we really hope we can have another successful event this year at the AMEX to raise more crucial funds to support the TMBU.”
Gavin’s godson Ted was born via an emergency caesarean after his mum, Claire, suffered a placental abruption. Ted was starved of oxygen and arrived with a 0 on the Apgar scale. He was closely monitored in intensive care and spent 5 days on a cooling mat to keep his body temperature down in order to reduce his brain from swelling and causing further brain damage. Ted endured an extremely difficult first few weeks of his life, and it was through the support of the exceptional staff and the ground-breaking equipment at the Trevor Mann Baby Unit that he pulled through.
Gavin went on to explain, “One of the main motivations when I was forming Search Seven was to use the agency as a vehicle to make a difference. As such, Search Seven contributes up to 7% of our profits to charities and local community projects each year.”
This unique business model has seen Search Seven host several events already: their free digital marketing workshop for charities during Brighton Fringe in 2016 saw Google and other partners sharing knowledge and insights with local and national charities, showing them how to get their voices heard.
To date, Search Seven have helped to raise and/or donate just over £10,000 to charities and local community projects.
Search Seven are determined to be change makers in the digital industry, showing that agencies can succeed from day one by putting passion over profit, and that all agencies need to have a strong ethical ethos with an emphasis on helping the community wherever possible.
The next Ted’s Trophy game at the AMEX stadium also celebrates Search Seven turning five years old as an agency. At the end of 2016, they surpassed £1million in turnover, operating at a 40% profit margin.
Gavin added, “The forthcoming match is going to be our landmark event, a great way to celebrate what we have achieved and, more importantly, to celebrate the great health of Ted and the fantastic work that all the team do at the Trevor Mann Baby Unit.”
Search Seven are inviting people to sponsor the event and/or donate, with opportunities to have an ad in the match day programme or be match day sponsor. They are also requesting prizes to be donated as part of the raffle after the game.
