Amaz-ing Community steps up to help SEND families during CV-19

Local charity Amaze is doing all it can to help local families of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) during the coronavirus outbreak, by launching an Amaz-ing community postcard and providing lots of SEND-specific resources.

The Amaz-ing “community postcard” is specifically trying to help families who might be struggling with having their disabled, or ill, children at home. This helpful card is an easy way for people to offer extra support to friends and neighbours who have kids with additional needs.

If you know someone that lives near you who you think could do with some extra help with their disabled child or children then print off the postcard here, fill it in and pop it through their door. You can download the postcard at: https://amazesussex.org.uk/amaze_news/amaze-creates-community-help-postcard-to-help-vulnerable-send-families-during-covid-19/

In addition, Amaze has quickly produced a set of Frequently Asked Questions for families with disabled children in both Brighton & Hove and East Sussex. The two FAQ documents are being updated as news and information changes and are available on Amaze’s website.

Amaze also manages a discount leisure card scheme called The Compass and a blog of leisure ideas for families struggling with activities to do with their children in the lockdown.
