Art exhibition to support Brighton Housing Trust centre

Local Artist, Tom Stroud, is holding an art exhibition on Thursday 31st March where a number of artists will exhibit their work to support the Brighton Housing Trust service, First Base Day Centre

First Base offers a range of services to support people who are sleeping rough or insecurely housed in Brighton and Hove.

Tom Stroud, organiser of the event said: “I’d been thinking for a while about what I could do to help the homeless, I always try and buy food.   Whilst that helps, I wanted to create more of an impact. I knew enough generous, humble and creative people so thought the art exhibition would be a great opportunity to help further.”

As well as providing food, showers, clean and dry clothes, and support to get people off the streets, First Base provides opportunities for work experience and learning.  In partnership with other agencies, dentistry, podiatry, nursing interventions, mental health advice and support, and accommodation and relocation services are provided.

Simon Hughes, Operational Manager of First Base said: “We are very grateful for the support of the community. Events like this raise money for the service, helping people who are sleeping rough move away from the streets.”

The event will take place at the Lounge Bar, Ship Street, Brighton, BN1 1AD from 7-11pm.
