Brighton Band Levellers Donate to Sussex Homeless Support

The Levellers, Brighton based English folk rock band, are supporting Sussex Homeless Support (SHS).

They have recently donated £4,847 from guest list contributions at their annual Beautiful Days festival in Devon, to SHS, to help them carry on their work of feeding and caring for the homeless in Brighton.

Drummer Charlie Heather and Bass Guitarist Jeremy Cunningham will be joining Jim Deans and Sussex Homeless Support at the Sunday Street Kitchen on Sunday 23rd September, at the Clocktower in Brighton, to help serve in excess of 100 regular breakfasts to the homeless in the area.

Brighton based Charlie and Jeremy have both noticed a massive increase in homelessness in the city in the last year, ‘the band has followed the work of Jim Deans and his charity and wanted to give something back to the local community. This is such a worthwhile charity, working with all aspects of homelessness and poverty and helping people to turn their lives around’.

Catch Charlie and Jeremy this Sunday, 23rd September at the Sunday Street Kitchen at the Clocktower, between 12 and 2.

Joining them at the Sunday Street Kitchen will be LAWSTOP, a new legal practice based in the Old Steine. LAWSTOP are a legal aid practice, providing efficient and effective legal assistance, offering a wide-range of legal services involving housing, community care, public law and education matters. These services may include assistance with homelessness, possession, eviction and disrepair. They can also help the elderly, people with disabilities and the vulnerable, with their care needs.

SHS are delighted to be working alongside LAWSTOP and have already seen several of their clients helped by their service.
