“The fulfilment and enjoyment you get out of the Christmas concerts just makes life worth living!” Choir with No Name member
Back for the fourth year running, the Choir with No Name (a charity running choirs for people who’ve experienced homelessness and marginalisation) will be returning to the Brighton Dome on Wednesday 4th December at 7:30pm with their inimitable take on the Christmas classics. This year they are excited to be joined by very special guest, the talented singer and pianist Joe Stilgoe.
The Choir with No Name’s Big Christmas Singalong has become an annual highlight in the Brighton Christmas calendar, with audience members coming back year after year to join in with a host of festive favourites, from ‘Fairytale of New York’ to ‘I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday’ and everything in between. Choir with No Name will be bringing their London and Brighton choirs together to deliver sackfuls of Christmas cheer to the seaside.
The Choir with No Name Brighton opened its doors in August 2018 and is already 50 members strong and growing. They rehearse every Monday at One Church in the city centre, and each rehearsal is followed by a hot meal together cooked by a team of volunteers. Members, who are largely from the homeless and recovery community, are offered an opportunity to make friends, learn new skills and grow in confidence, all through the power of singing together in a safe, non-judgmental space.
The choir is run in partnership with Brighton Housing Trust who employ the choir manager as well as provide members with direct access to their support services.
Andy Winter, Chief Executive of BHT said:
“It has been fantastic to see the Brighton choir go from strength to strength over the past year, performing in venues across Brighton and beyond. Anyone who has attended one of their concerts will tell you how uplifting the experience is, for choir members and audience alike. I can’t wait to hear them sing again at the Big Christmas Singalong; I know they will make us all feel immensely humble and proud.”
Marie Benton, CEO of the Choir with No Name said:
“We are thrilled to be back at Brighton Dome – our home from home! Our Big Christmas Singalongs are the highlight of the year for many of our members. It’s something to work towards and look forward to at a time of year that can be particularly tough. Our choirs bring so much energy and life affirming joy to their live performances, and we can’t wait to give the Brighton crowd a festive night to remember!”
Tickets cost just £12 or £8 concessions, and are available via the Brighton Dome website (www.brightondome.org) or their Box Office. Proceeds and donations from the night will support The Choir with No Name Brighton, run in partnership with Brighton Housing Trust.
