Brighton & Hove Charity Celebrates Huge Milestone

After more than twenty years of supporting socially isolated and lonely people across Brighton and Hove, a local charity is marking a milestone of 100,000 befriending visits with an announcement of a new name. From July 25th 2019, Brighton & Hove Impetus will be called Together Co, a name chosen to reflect the charity’s work to ease loneliness and change lives through human connection.

Together Co will continue to work to tackle isolation and loneliness through their befriending, social prescribing and volunteering services across Brighton and Hove. They are calling for anyone who’d like support or to get involved with volunteering or fundraising to go to their website.

Quote from Linda, Together Co Befriending Scheme Member
“I’ve been living with physical disabilities and chronic pain for many years. I still have a youthful mind, but my body is not compatible with it. When I became housebound, Together Co put me in touch with my befriending volunteer, Rebecca. We discuss what we’re reading and watching on the TV and chat about ‘normal things’. An hour a week of Rebecca’s company can make a lot of difference.”

Quote from Rebecca Together Co Befriending Volunteer
I like volunteering with Together Co because it’s a great way to make a positive impact in my local community. Popping round to Linda’s for a cup of tea and a catch up is something I know we both look forward to each week. It’s a mutually beneficial connection.”

“Quote from Jo Crease, CEO Together Co
We are really excited to reach this huge milestone in our 20 year history and look forward to seeing how our new name can help us better describe what we do, and to reach more people. In a city of nearly 300,000, no one should be lonely or socially isolated. Together we can make sure no one is.
