A celebration to mark the contribution of volunteers from across the city took place at the Amex Stadium this week (Monday, 17 June 2019). The event was organised by Brighton & Hove City Council in partnership with American Express, to recognise volunteering efforts in the community.
Comedian Zoe Lyons hosted the celebrations. Larissa Reed, the council’s Executive Director Neighbourhoods Communities & Housing and Deputy Mayor Councillor Alan Robins welcomed the 500 guests, thanking them for their hard work and commitment. Christine Olson, Vice President, American Express, shared her experiences of volunteering during her 23 years at the company and said: “‘Volunteers make a significant contribution to our community and much of their generous work goes unrecognised.
As part of Volunteers Week earlier this month, we wanted to bring some of the thousands of volunteers from across Brighton and Hove together to hear their stories and thank them for what they do.” Performances were provided by Hullabaloo Community Quire and Federico Bedoya and dancers
