Sew Fabulous, a community interest company based in Brighton Open Market, have secured additional funding for their outreach program of beginners and improvers sewing courses for local unemployed and very low waged adults.
The courses will be taking place from January 2018 at the Sew Fabulous sewing studio, and in Whitehawk, with thanks to Sussex Community Foundation and Awards for All, England.
The aims of Sew Fabulous are:
- To provide sewing classes and workshops to the local community.
- To promote the reuse and recycling of fabrics and clothing as an antidote to fast fashion.
- To be a positive force for change in our city and to promote an inclusive environment for all.
Sew Fabulous’ outreach programme aims to provide affordable, accessible beginners sewing class for adults who are experiencing social and economic disadvantage in Brighton & Hove.
Sew Fabulous aims to support participants to develop life skills and confidence through the provision of a structured learning programme and support.
Sew Fabulous have been offering classes and workshops from their cosy little studio to the local community since summer 2014.
As a community interest company, profits from regular classes for all ages, parties and workshops go towards subsidizing places for low income families.
Sew Fabulous offer free or very low-cost courses to enable everybody to participate, even the most disadvantaged.
