The team behind Up Your Prana, a brand-new piece of theatre by emerging Sussex writer Julia Howe, are Crowdfunding to premiere the play at the Brighton Fringe this year. They’re calling for support from Sussex residents to reach the target of £2,500.
A dark comedy, Up Your Prana is based in the fictional Bliss Yoga studio and features six characters, all eaten up by secrets. A new receptionist arrives after the manager’s disappearance, to find the centre in chaos. She unearths the reasons behind the manager’s fall from grace – but is herself defeated by her own demons.
The play explores the nature of love, betrayal, overarching ambition and unlikely friendships.
Starring Kate Dyson, Casualty, The Bill, My Fair Lady and The Importance of Being Earnest, with a sterling cast made up of seasoned and emerging talent, this play offers a vehicle to showcase both local actors and launch new careers.
The team are Crowdfunding to develop a tip-top production, ready to premiere at the Brighton Fringe Festival 2019 – the largest annual arts festival in England and one of the largest fringe festivals in the world.
“ The Brighton Fringe offers an incredible platform to launch this show and showcase local talent to the thousands of visitors who come to Brighton in May. It would be fantastic if people could support us to get there. There’s also some great rewards for those who pledge” says Julia Howe, writer.
