Community co-operative partner with Brighton & Hove Buses

The Brighton & Hove Bus Company have announced a key partnership scheme with the renowned savings co-op, the East Sussex Credit Union (ESCU).

Members of the ESCU can now apply for a monthly payment plan to purchase a Brighton & Hove Bus Company annual ticket on the Keycard.

The new scheme enables those who cannot afford the outlay of an annual ticket at £540 to spread the cost over 12 monthly payments with a finance agreement with the ESCU. Under the scheme the ticket price will be further discounted to £490 – if paid in full – giving the ticket holder unlimited bus travel for less than £9.50 per week.

Discounted deals on days out and mini breaks in the UK offered by Brighton & Hove Coaches will also available to ESCU members on the same scheme.

Ann Hickey general manager at East Sussex Credit Union said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Brighton & Hove Buses. We are always keen to ensure all members of our community can access fair deals and are particularly pleased we can now offer the discounted annual bus ticket that can be paid for monthly. This will enable those who are unable to pay the full price up-front to get the best price possible for unlimited travel across the bus network.”

“This is our first membership benefit product and is an excellent example of how we can adapt to personalise our products and services to work with major partners and tailor to the needs of our members and wider community”.

Patrick Warner business development manager at Brighton & Hove Bus and Coach Company said: “We are working closely with East Sussex Credit Union to ensure everyone can access our best value range of tickets. This loan facility will ensure more people in our city can enjoy the lowest fares all year round.”

“In addition to easy access to the best discounts on daily bus travel, member discounts and family value deals will also be available from the 2016 days out and UK short breaks brochure. We believe the deal with the Credit Union will be a popular benefit for their members”.

The scheme is the latest the bus company has launched to extend its range of targeted discount fares. “Routes to Work” was launched in October to offer 75% off bus travel for the first month in any new employment or apprenticeship if the employer is signed-up to the scheme.
