Compass Card Now Available For Christmas

With more than 120 discounts available for children and young people with disabilities, families should sign up now if they want to get their Compass Card for Christmas.

Amaze CompassLocal charity Amaze has been commissioned to manage the discount card and the disability register and will also be able to collate anonymous data to help West Sussex County Council understand the volume and range of disabilities and plan for the future more effectively.
The leisure discount card was launched in West Sussex in April this year and around 15 percent of eligible families have already signed up.

It is estimated that there are more than 7,000 children and young people in West Sussex who are eligible for the Compass Card West Sussex, which could see families save hundreds of pounds a year.

Within the 120 offers available with the card, there is a wide range of discounts and concessions for families wanting to make the most of their Christmas break.
Offers include money off food bills, free entry to leisure activities for carers, free swimming sessions, free hire of DVDs, CDs and audiobooks, and a range of transport discounts. All of the offers are listed in the free Compass Card app for iPhones and Android smartphones.

The offers will also be available on the new Compass Card website which is to be launched shortly at www.compasscard.org.uk.

Stephen Hillier, Cabinet Member for Children – Start of Life, said: “There are already more than 1,100 children benefitting from the discounts available through this card which we know will make a huge difference. “The card is helping to break down the barriers which stop people from accessing services and it is also a good way for families to easily find out which activities are suitable for children with disabilities.”

The card is available for under 25-year-olds who are living or going to school in West Sussex, and have special educational needs, disabilities or complex health needs that have a big effect on their daily life.

Families signing up for the Compass Card West Sussex, which takes up to three weeks to be processed, will be added to the county’s disability register.
