Wave Leisure Trust Limited (Wave) has announced an exciting programme of events and activities for children during the Summer Holiday.

It can be difficult to know what to do with the kids during the Summer Holiday, with parents and guardians wanting to keep them occupied in ways that are enjoyable and healthy. So Wave, which runs nine leisure centres across East Sussex and Newhaven Fort, has just announced an extensive and exciting summer programme, giving children and families the opportunity to enjoy a huge range of sports activities over the summer period.

Children can take part in swimming, trampolining and dodgeball as well as football camps in Peacehaven and South Heighton. There is also the chance to give scuba diving a go with Newhaven Scuba Diving Centre. The classes will allow children to stay active and occupied during the holiday period, as well as socialising and making friends with others.

There are classes available for every age group and skill level, so there’s something for everyone. The sessions will be available in Seaford, Newhaven, Peacehaven, Telscombe and Lewes throughout the School Summer Holiday.

The Wave Holiday Club will also be running at Lewes Leisure Centre, for parents and guardians who are working or not always available.

In addition, Wave has planned a variety of activities that families will be able to enjoy together. These holiday sports include table tennis, badminton, swimming and cricket. Playing sports together is one of the best ways for families to spend quality time together; it’s an extra source of outdoor exercise that strengthens family bonds – all while having fun!

To encourage participation, Wave is now giving out vouchers offering parents £1 off any Summer Holiday activity across their centres. The offer runs from 23rd July – 31st August 2018. Pick up a voucher from Peacehaven, Lewes and Downs Leisure Centres, Ringmer and Seaford Head Swimming Pools or Seahaven Swim & Fitness Centre.

Emma Hatt, Sports & Activities Development Coordinator at Wave said: “this summer we really want to engage with as many young people and families as possible to get them out in their community, having fun and doing physical activity. Physical activity can be rewarding in so many ways; it is good for general health, wellbeing and making friends. This summer we believe that we have such a great variety of activities that there is something to suit everyone, this could be the start of a great habit”.
