Kinex Sponsors Local Children’s Golden Jubilee Awarded Charity

Utilities and telecoms provider kinex has supported The Queen’s Golden Jubilee awarded charity, Golden Lion Children’s Trust, through their Community Support Scheme.

This self-financing charity operates in the Gatwick area and aims to help children with special needs and disadvantaged young people. The charity applied for the Community Support Scheme and kinex recognised them with a £600 grant.

The aim of the Golden Lion Children’s Trust is to give support to around 3000 children per year in Sussex, parts of Surrey and Kent. The charity raises funds and arranges projects and events to give these children some opportunities they may not otherwise have to enjoy. The charity also runs an Education and Awareness Programme through working with local schools, and units, as well as other support agencies in order to help the children.

Through the Community Support Scheme grant, the charity used this to fund transport for a trip on 19th December to the London International Horse Show in Olympia where the children spent an afternoon watching top-class show jumping and other displays, etc. On the event, GLCT chairman Lynda Guy said:
‘The Golden Lion Children’s Trust were fortunate to be offered the chance to enjoy an afternoon at the London International Horse Show in Olympia. The GLCT arranged for children (former patients of Peanut Ward, Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead) to travel with family members by minibus (generously sponsored by kinex) to the show and everyone enjoyed a wonderful afternoon. A huge thank you to you and your colleagues for your generous offer of support for our charity. Your generosity made it possible for GLCT to offer these children and their families a really special pre-Christmas treat’.
kinex is part of the Verastar group, which was established in 1998, and specialises in business to business telecommunications and utilities services to small-to-medium enterprises. The kinex Community Support Scheme is a monthly financial award offered to community groups and organisations that have improved the quality of life for their local communities. kinex has created this grant to recognise and reward these invaluable efforts.

On the grant to the charity, kinex PR and Content Manager Molly Chong said: ‘We found the submission from the Golden Lion’s Children Trust very moving. Without the tireless efforts from the charity, these children would not be able to enjoy these memorable events. It’s fantastic for us that kinex was able to help the charity with their day out’.

The funding was also projected to go towards hiring transportation to take disadvantaged families to a Christmas lunch at a local pub on 8th December, and taking another set of families to the charity’s traditional GLCT Late Christmas Party on 6th January.
