Martlets is inviting people across Brighton and Hove to join them at a series of ‘Light up a Life’ events to remember their loved ones this Christmas.
Two events will take place at the Martlets Hospice building in Hove on Sunday 1 and 8 December at 4pm with a further service in the community at St Nicholas Church, Saltdean on 11 December at 7pm.
Each Christmas, Martlets hosts ‘Light up a Life’ services to provide families and friends the chance to celebrate the lives of their loved ones. Everyone is welcome to the events, whether they are directly connected with Martlets or are looking to find comfort from joining others who have been through a similar experience of loss and bereavement, especially at this time of year.
‘Light up a Life’ is a chance to make a donation to dedicate a light and help Martlets to continue to provide free care for local people who are coming to terms with the impact of a life limiting illness, either for themselves or someone they love.
Emily Brown, Martlets Supporter Engagement Manager, said: “Light up a Life is a time to reflect and celebrate the lives of people we miss, as we join in with carols and listen to readings. We hope that people will join us in remembering their loved ones in whichever way is best for them and help us to keep helping create more treasured memories for local families.”
Rebekah’s Mum Elaine was a patient of Martlets this year. Rebekah will be supporting Light up a Life in memory of Elaine. She says,
“They supported us all through a very difficult time which was only made manageable because of the care given by Martlets. If you’re thinking of making a donation, even small amounts count as it can be the tiniest details that make a difference to someone’s care.”
