Two of Meads councillors, Barry Taylor and Robert Smart, attended the official opening of the new Peace Garden at the Wish Tower earlier this week.
The councillors, along with fellow councillor, Kathy Ballard, agreed to make a £2,500 contribution to the Eastbourne Civilian War Memorial Trust through the devolved budget.
The money was used to buy plants for the garden, which is a memorial to the people killed and injured in the bombing raids on the town during the Second World War. A commemorative stone plaque was also unveiled at the official opening.
The successful campaign for funding was led by John Boyle, who is Chairman of the Trustees for the Eastbourne Civilian War Memorial Trust.
