Mindfulness Course Comes To The YHA

In an exciting, groundbreaking venture, Brighton Mindfulness Centre has teamed up with Youth Hostels Association (YHA) to bring mindfulness for free to Brighton residents and YHA guests.

On Sat 15th and Sunday 16th July, Brighton YHA on the Old Steine will
present its first mindfulness weekend. Esteemed teacher Jon Wilde will be leading 1-hour introductory meditation/Q&A sessions throughout the two days, at 11am, 1pm and 4pm.

Sessions are completely free and require no membership or
equipment – just turn up!

Jon WildeJon’s current career as a mindfulness teacher marks a sharp detour from his previous life as a cutting-edge freelance journalist. Through the 80s, working for Melody Maker and NME, he toured the world with the biggest rock bands of the era. In the 90s he was a founder member of the Loaded magazine team, specialising in hard-hitting interviews with hell-raisers like Oliver Reed, George Best and Richard Harris.

For the last ten years he has, most notably, kept himself busy interviewing a spectacularly long list of Hollywood A-list stars for The Mail On Sunday. In 2015 Jon became fully qualified as a mindfulness teacher, having trained with Sussex Partnership/NHS in Brighton & Hove.

In 2016 he set up Brighton Mindfulness Centre (BMC) in the heart of the
North Laine. The forthcoming mindfulness weekend in Brighton will mark the start of
a long-term collaboration between YHA and Brighton Mindfulness
Centre, with similar week-long events planned at some of the YHA’s 160
hostels across the UK.
