Walk of Fame Media Ltd, in a joint venture with Brighton Palace Pier, will launch the Brighton Music Walk of Fame. The new interactive digital experience utilising Shazam’s technology along Brighton Pier pays homage to the many famous stars and musicians associated with the City of Brighton and Sussex over the past 50 years.

One of many projects currently being developed by Walk of Fame Media Ltd, a UK-based media business co-owned by renowned songwriter and music producer David Courtney, the Brighton Music Walk of Fame will recognise artists from across the world who have an affinity with Brighton and the surrounding area.

From The Who and Abba to Rag & Bone Man and James Bay, the Walk will see tourists and visitors interact with specially created music plaques along the Pier using Shazam’s visual recognition technology. By scanning Shazam Codes on the plaques, passers-by will activate a digital Walk of Fame experience on their smartphones and access unique content and music from those artists inducted.

The Walk is being launched on 27th June at a special event on Brighton Palace Pier hosted by radio DJ, writer, journalist and television presenter Mike Read, and is set to become another popular attraction along the Pier, one of the UK’s biggest tourist attractions, already boasting over 5 million visitors per year.

The Brighton Music Walk of Fame is set to not only benefit tourism but also the local community, as it aims to donate a percentage of its proceeds generated from sponsorship to charitable causes. Domestic & General, a leading provider of appliance care in the UK and one of Brighton’s biggest employers, is one of the first to become affiliated with the Brighton Music Walk of Fame as a Community Partner. The company provides warranty and insurance products to over 16 million people worldwide and employs over 750 people in Brighton, with its office based just a stone’s throw from Brighton beach in Queens Square.

David Courtney, Founder & CEO of Walk of Fame Ltd and Co-Founder of Walk of Fame Media Ltd said; “As a young musician growing up in Brighton I am thrilled to see the Brighton Music Walk of Fame come to fruition. The Brighton Palace Pier is one of the UK’s iconic leisure attractions and the perfect hosting location to reflect the music legacy of Brighton & Sussex”

Anne Ackord, Chief Executive Officer of the company who own Brighton Palace Pier said; “The pier is delighted to welcome the Walk of Fame to the pier and help to celebrate all the amazing music that has its home in Brighton.

“Shazam is proud to partner with the Brighton Music Walk of Fame to bring further content to life simply by scanning the Shazam Codes,” said Miles Lewis, SVP, Shazam International. “Music, Shazam and one of the most visited tourist attractions in the country – a winning formula!”

Mark Nardin, Head of Site at Brighton said; “At Domestic & General we’re extremely passionate about supporting our community and we’re delighted to have the opportunity to support an event that celebrates Brighton and its rich history.”

The Walk will be open to the public from the 27th June along Brighton Palace Pier and additional Walk of Fame inductions will be made annually and added to the attraction as part of its ongoing development.
