New community pub gets ‘Quizzical’ to raise funds for RISE

A new local pub which has become known for its philanthropic nature recently is teaming up with local Domestic Abuse charity RISE UK during May.

The Hove pub, The Better Half, will be hosting a fundraising Pub Quiz for RISE, a charity which helps people affected by domestic abuse, on Monday 16th May.

The community minded venue in Hove Place has opened its doors to several local causes over the past few months, with the focus turning to RISE in May.

Landlord, Simon Stern said: “The Better Half is committed to helping our local community and beyond. RISE is a charity that The Better Half is proud to help. Home should be a ‘sanctuary’ but for many it’s a ‘prison’.

Domestic Abuse can happen to anyone and the work of RISE is amazing! A fun time is had by all with the quiz with all proceeds going to help worthy causes like RISE along with 10% of our takings on the night and a complementary meal for the winning team!”RISE Pub Quiz

Money raised from the Pub Quiz will enable RISE to support women & children affected by Domestic Violence & Abuse throughout Brighton and Hove.

RISE Community Fundraiser Madelaine Hunter said: “We are so grateful to the venue and our supporters who have made this event possible, events like this are perfect for not only fundraising but also raising awareness of how Domestic Abuse affects people in the city.”

Quizzing starts at 7.30pm, Monday 16th May at The Better Half, 1 Hove Place, BN3 2RG.  Contact madelaine.hunter@riseuk.org.uk for more information.
