Possability People, a charity which supports disabled people in Brighton, Hove and Sussex has just announced its new Chair, Stan Pearce, who has been a Trustee of the charity for several years, will take up his role immediately.

Working with eight other trustees at Possability People, Stan has a wealth of knowledge, having sat on boards and committees including: Chair of the Patient Participation Group network; public governor of Sussex Foundation Community Trust; governor of Hill Park School, Portslade; Diabetes Brighton Group; and Cruse Bereavement Care.

Seven out of nine of Possability People’s board members are disabled people or live with long term health conditions, Stan included. The experiences of the board are important in ensuring the organisation continues to effectively support disabled people.

Geraldine Des Moulins, Chief Executive Officer of Possability People, says: “Stan brings a wealth of experience to the organisation, particularly around issues affecting disabled people. He is a committed advocate for the rights of disabled people, as well being incredibly supportive of our staff and volunteer team. I am delighted he has the opportunity to lead the board as we plan our future”.

Mr Pearce says: “It’s a privilege for me to take on this role. I have always firmly believed in supporting disabled people, young and old. As a disabled person myself, I have seen first hand the barriers we can face, and understand the importance of standing up for each other”.
