Chris is connected to the charity via his partner who works for the organisation and was impressed by the range of specialist services they offer: “I have looked from the outside in on the work they do and the positive impact they have for disabled people and their families. The work they do is inspiring. It is a privilege to be asked to run and raise awareness on their behalf.”
How Possability People Helps
Recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, young mum Sam was refused Personal Independence Payment, the benefit that disabled people and people with long term illness can claim.
She lived in an upstairs flat, which was a real struggle with a young child and a pushchair, as well as dangerous. The Disability Advice Centre helped her to appeal the PIP decision. They won her case for her, so she now receives £139.75 a week to live on. The Advice Centre also helped her to find ground floor council accommodation so she no longer has the dangerous struggles up and down stairs to her first floor flat with a pushchair and small child.
The difference this had made to Sam’s life is enormous.
The Brighton Half Marathon is taking place on Sunday 26 February and Chris has set up a ‘Local Giving’ fundraising page https://localgiving.org/fundraising/possabilitypeople/ for donations.
