RISE, the Brighton & Hove violence and abuse charity, is coordinating a range of events to shine a light on the issues of violence against women and girls with a unique night of music at The Joker on Preston Circus, Brighton tonight.
Tonight’s event forms part of the #16days campaign where a range of agencies, groups and individuals are coming together to work to end all forms of violence against women across the city. The diverse list of events will include awareness raising, making sure people know where to go for help and support, sharing stories about people’s experiences, recovery and work, as well as hosting a comedy night to raise funds for local services.
The RISE Stick It On Fundraiser will see guests enjoy their 15 minutes of superstar DJ fame as the music will be provided by them as part of popular ‘Stick It On’ club nights.
Rob Drysdale AKA Stick It On Rob, founder of Stick It On, said: “There’s no night like a Stick It On night. It is a fundraiser for RISE so we recommend a donation of £5. Pay more, or less, just join us for a fab night out.
“The night is split into 15 minute slots for each person Stickin’ It On. If you fancy giving it a go, all you have to do is choose the records that you would play before going out for the night of a lifetime. Mixing is actively discouraged. It’s just a chance your you to put some sun in people’s hearts, rock the dancefloor, shake what your mama gave ya and enjoy yourself. “
The event tonight forms part of a diverse range of events around the city across the #16days of Activism to end violence against women. More information can be found here, http://www.safeinthecity.info/16-days-of-action.
