The local children’s charity Rockinghorse has received a significant donation of £88,000 from the premier global insurance company RiverStone Management Limited which has a UK base within Brighton & Hove.
Rockinghorse welcomed the huge boost to their fundraising following the substantial charitable donation from RiverStone, part of the insurance and reinsurance operations of Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited.
RiverStone previously donated £9,000 to Rockinghorse in 2012 to buy a state of the art pain distraction unit for the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital. Following this, and hearing about the incredible impact these pain distractors have had, RiverStone wanted to make a further donation that would once again help the children’s hospital.
Staff from the Preston Road office in Brighton, including RiverStone Managing Director Luke Tazner, presented the cheque to Rockinghorse Head of Fundraising, Analiese Doctrove. In total, RiverStone has donated £175,000 to a variety of charitable causes, including three significant donations to charities close to each of their UK offices. Rockinghorse was chosen as their Brighton office donation.
As the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (The Alex) in Brighton, Rockinghorse raises money for life-saving and cutting-edge medical equipment, whilst ensuring that children are treated in an environment better suited to their needs.
Analiese Doctrove, Head of Fundraising at Rockinghorse, said: “We can’t thank RiverStone enough for their very generous donation. The money will enable us to fund a number of important projects at the Alex, including a children’s dedicated asthma clinic. It’s thanks to companies such as RiverStone that we are able to continue our work to support sick children in Sussex.”
