With The Barge @Brighton Marina officially launching tomorrow morning (Wednesday 26th July), SEA PR, who are one of the guest contributors announce the details of their FREE PR workshop which they will be delivering on 6th September at The Barge.
Starting at 10 am PR expert Tracey Allen will start with the basics of PR. What is it and why do it? The presentation will include the types of PR you can engage in, things to consider before starting, developing and understanding your key messages, knowing your audience, and what to do when it all goes wrong.
The afternoon session will see Tracey giving her top tips on Managing the Media. She will explain why you should, and how to engage with the media? Delve inside the media’s mind, advise on how to avoid the interview bear traps, and how to control your performance when you are nervous. She will be giving advice on dealing with difficult questions and then some top tips on social media and dealing with international media should the need ever arise.
As an exciting addition, there will be a rare opportunity to hear from Nancy Platts – former Brighton Parliamentary candidate who will be doing a guest presentation in the afternoon.
Nancy will be discussing “Building a Public Affairs Strategy” taken from years of working for the Labour party and more recently in Jeremy Corbyn’s office in Whitehall.
Nancy will be sharing her incredible knowledge about involving politicians, civil servants or agencies in your campaigns which may be essential to achieve your goal, demonstrate support for your idea, successfully manage opposition or to highlight an unintended consequence of legislation. Whatever it is, you need a plan and you might need to act quickly. Nancy’s session tells attendees how.
SEA PR work closely with social enterprises and charities to help them learn how to raise awareness, build reputations and give a voice to those working for the greater good, which in turn will enhance their ability to raise funds and build their business reputation. They have a wealth of experience in the media and third sector working with a variety of organisations on important issues such as the living wage campaign, suicide prevention, combating loneliness in older people, disability awareness, youth engagement and much, much more.
SEA PR’s workshops are run by Tracey Allen who has over twenty years of experience working in media and events for the third sector and has a strong understanding of how organisations work effectively within local communities
