Solicitors in Sussex are writing Wills for free this April to raise money for St Peter & St James Hospice.
This year’s event runs from 1st to 30th April, during which time participating solicitors will be producing basic Wills in return for a donation to the hospice. There are 11 firms across Sussex taking part including four in Haywards Heath, two in Burgess Hill, one in Hassocks and four in Lewes.
Stephanie Coleman, who organises the event, said “Making a Will is something many people put off and don’t like to think about, but it is the only way to ensure our wishes are met after we are gone.
“By taking part in this scheme you can get your affairs in order and support your local hospice at the same time. Last year our Make a Will Month raised an incredible £11,300 for the hospice, making a huge difference to people here at the hospice and out in the community.”
Recent studies have shown that about two thirds of adults have not made a Will. An up-to-date Will, written by a solicitor, will make sure your wishes are respected. It also prevents the Government from claiming your assets and avoids difficult decisions and legal complications for your loved ones.
Supporters of St Peter & St James Hospice may like to take the opportunity to leave a gift to their local hospice in their Will. There is no pressure to do this, however legacies do provide a very valuable source of income for the charity.
If you wish to take part please contact Stephanie Coleman at the hospice on 01444 471598 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
