Sun Awareness Week – Donate to Avoid Skin Cancer

To coincide with Sun Awareness Week on the 8th – 14th May 2017, Brighton Housing Trust’s (BHT’s) First Base Day Centre is appealing for sun cream to protect homeless Suncreampeople this summer.

Deirdre O’ Halloran, acting Manager of First Base said:  Often people think of homeless men and women out in the cold, but in the summer months they are exposed to extreme heat from the sun.

“First Base Day Centre helps homeless men and women in Brighton and Hove by providing food, showers, clean and dry clothes, and support to get off the streets.

“Sunbathers are generally advised to avoid the sun between 11am and 3pm.  This advice is not always seen important or possible to those that live on the streets.

“Your support in donating sun cream will help us encourage rough sleepers to protect themselves from sunburn and associated illnesses during the summer months.”

You can either purchase sun cream from our Amazon Wish List , or drop sun cream to First Base itself at St. Stephen’s Hall, Montpelier Place, Brighton, BN1 3BF, or at our head office at 144 London Road, Brighton, BN1 4PH.
