A group of candidates from Team Domenica, one of Brighton’s newest social enterprises, will accompany their founder, Rosa Monckton, to help launch a networking breakfast with a difference. Kick Start Brighton, which debuts on 4 July at Alfresco, is a new monthly forum designed to promote healthy networking; and the young candidates from the charity will be demonstrating their newfound skills, working alongside the organisers to welcome guests and help serve breakfast.
These inspirational young adults with learning disabilities are part of a unique supported employment scheme; designed by Team Domenica to give them the skills to enter internships, with a view to finding and retaining employment. The success of the programme is already proving to be phenomenal, with 4 candidates having already received offers of paid employment before their year-end; a result which far exceeds the national statistic.
The breakfast itself will focus on healthy mind and body; comprising fruit shots, teas and juices with nutritious Buddha bowl-style food to start the day. The healthy events are being designed to encourage new local collaborations and partnerships; and Rosa Monckton, Founder and Trustee of Team Domenica, will be the first guest speaker, on hand to describe the ground-breaking service they are providing and to explain the kind of support they need from local organisations.
Jo Cook, Fundraising and Marketing Manager for the charity, commented
“Team Domenica are delighted to be involved in the launch of Kick Start’s first networking breakfast. It’s a great way to start the day feeling happy, healthy and motivated – something we passionately promote through our work with young adults with learning disabilities.”
Kick Start Brighton is an initiative created by three avid business networkers; Alex Lewis from Red Giraffe Events, Lucy McCrickard from LGM Nutrition and Rob Reaks from Marketing, Actually. The first event is being sponsored by The Float Spa.
The launch breakfast is on Tuesday 4 July from 07:30-09:30 at Alfresco; and will be held on the first Tuesday of each month thereafter.
