The Brighton Chamber of Commerce have announced a Pop Up Breakfast with a difference next month with community activist Warren Carter.
Probably best known in the city as the driving force behind acclaimed community pub The Bevy, Warren is also Project Manager at Moulscoomb Forest Garden, The Chair of East Brighton Trust and a Community Governor at Moulscoomb Primary.
Warren will be in conversation with Steve Bustin talking about his life and work and particularly how he led the campaign to take a failing pub and turn it into an award-winning community centre, cafe and pub that has been featured on BBC1’s The One Show and is now seen as a model for building a community-owned business. Warren will be talking about how they raised the funds, found the supporters, renovated the pub themselves and built a business that people wanted to be involved in as they could immediately see the good it was doing. He’ll also talk about why he thinks The Bevy is a good case study of how not to do it!
Find out how you and your business can get involved in community projects across the city and what we can all learn from running a community minded and focused organisation.
