The Starr Trust Celebrates Its 10th Birthday!

A. Starr Trust young ChampionsThis special day in the calendar was chosen as it was the late Edward Starr’s birthday. He was the inspiration for this much loved Brighton charity and sadly died back in 2006. Two years later his son Rob Starr founded The Starr Trust, along with his sister Tracey and other family members, as a tribute to their father.

The afternoon saw young Champions and their families, Trustees and Patrons of the charity plus local businesses such as The Implant Centre, the Hilton Brighton Metropole and Nick Taylor from Healy’s Law, all come together to celebrate the Starr Trust’s achievements over the past decade.

Rob Starr told us “The Starr Trust has gone from strength to strength over the past 10 years and I’m proud to say we have helped many thousands of young people in this city to fulfil their potential and be the best they can be.

“We are very much a part of the Brighton community and couldn’t carry out the important work we do without the help of so many local people and businesses. They really go the extra mile through event sponsorship, becoming a partner or signing up to our latest Champion a Champion scheme and we are always so grateful for their support. We hope our next 10 years will see us champion even more young people in our wonderful city”.

The Starr Trust offers training opportunities, mentoring and grants of up to £5000 with a focus on Art, Sport and Education. If you are aged 10-18 and live within the BN postcode you may be eligible for an Edward Starr Award.
