Uckfield Charity Holds High Street Cake Sale

An Uckfield charity that rescues and rehabilitates orangutans in Borneo will be holding a cake sale in the High Street on Friday 12th April to raise funds to help save endangered orangutans in Borneo. A team from International Animal Rescue (IAR) will be selling a mouth-watering range of delicious cakes on a stall opposite All Sorts in Uckfield High Street between 11am and 3pm. The sale is part of IAR’s Cakes for Apes fundraising campaign which launched on 1 April and continues throughout the month. This is the second year of the event which has the support of celebrity bakers including TV and radio presenter Fearne Cotton, reality TV star Lucy Watson and vegan blogger Deliciously Ella.

International Animal Rescue runs a rehabilitation centre for critically endangered orangutans in West Borneo – and the Cakes for Apes campaign aims to get people baking for friends, family and colleagues as a fun way of fundraising for IAR’s orangutan project.

IAR’s Community Fundraiser Phily Kennington says: “We rely entirely on public donations to fund our work rescuing and caring for orangutans and other suffering animals – and we’re full of admiration for all the amazing things people do to support us. So this year we’ve decided to take part in Cakes for Apes ourselves and join in the fundraising fun! The team is all busy baking in readiness for our sale and we’re looking forward to Friday when we’ll be selling cakes and chatting to people about our work.”
