Watersports Challenge In Aid Of Two Local Children’s Charities

Starr Water Wars teams celebrating at last year's event

Brighton-based charities The Starr Trust and Rockinghorse children’s charity have joined forces for this year’s Starr Water Wars challenge.

Teams are invited to make a splash at the multi-watersport fundraising event on Sunday 2 September at Hove Lagoon. Competitors will go head-to-head in a series of challenges, including; giant paddle boarding, kayaking, raft building and the challenge finale – a raft race across the lagoon!

With a day of action packed activities promised, this family friendly event will be raising funds to support the work of both The Starr Trust and Rockinghorse. Brighton youth charity The Starr Trust supports individuals aged 10-18 to fulfil their potential in sports, arts and education. Rockinghorse is the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton.

Rosie Molloy, Fundraising Manager at The Starr Trust, says: “This is a fantastic chance for local businesses to compete against each other whilst fundraising for both our charities. For businesses who don’t wish to take part, there will be some great advertising opportunities, so please do get in touch to sign up.”

Terrina Barnes, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Rockinghorse, added: “We’re very much looking forward to our first Starr Water Wars event and it’s such a great opportunity to partner with another local charity to raise money for young people in Sussex. Get in touch to book your team!”

Entry is £300 per team, including food and drink on the day, an event t-shirt and participant medal. Kicking off at 10am, there will be plenty of live entertainment throughout the day, hosted by Latest TV presenter Guy Lloyd, as friends and family are encouraged to support those taking part.

Local businesses Airsprung and Beales are confirmed as sponsors on the day, but there are still plenty of sponsorship opportunities available. To find out more or to book your team, email rosie@starrtrust.com or call 01273 715 882.
