Brighton-based We Are Not Saints, the world’s first recovery record label, is partnering grassroots charity, Cascade Creative, on their 2019 South Coast Recovery Walk on Sunday 15thSeptember.
The Walk and festivities will be a day of celebrating recovery and all the joy, love and life that it brings. Starting at 1 p.m. at The Concorde 2 on Brighton’s Madeira Drive, walkers will ‘walk with pride’ along the scenic and iconic promenade to the i360 where there will be able to enjoy the unique Recovery Stage and a delicious BBQ and other refreshments in a festival and ‘sober space’ event setting.
The Recovery Stage will play host to an eclectic range of live music from the We Are Not Saints musicians, alongside acts from Cascade Creative Recovery which will include poetry readings and the spoken word performances.
Pete Davies, Cascade Creative Recovery’s Founder and Project Manager said: “Taking place just two weeks after the National Recovery Walk in Middlesbrough, the South Coast RecoveryWalk is not only a festival and celebration for those in recovery, their families ,friends and those who offer support but also a symbol of hope and courage to those still struggling with addiction. For many, the recovery experience creates a positive and profound wish to become involved in their communities by contributing in a positive way, often by helping those still struggling with substance misuse or other vulnerable groups within society, resulting in a sense of wellbeing and purpose. The South Coast Recovery Walk is a great showcase of this dedication and commitment as well as the freedom and joy recovery brings with it.”
Commenting on their participation and partnership, We Are Not Saints Founder, Chris De Banks said: “To be part of the South Coast Recovery Walk and support Cascade Creative Recovery in its endeavours is an honour. With over 5,000 people in Brighton in recovery, the Walk will be a great way to tell the many local stories of those in recovery andhighlight, reaffirm and endorse that recovery is much, much more than just the elimination of alcohol and drugs.”
We Are Not Saints, the world’s first, independent, recovery record label, is focused on amazing music, world class talent, chances and opportunities. Through funding from The Forward Trust’s Enterprise Fund, UnLtd Do-it Fund, and coaching from Crowdfunder, Chris and his team have been able to give the label’s artists second chances and the opportunity to produce incredible music from a hidden and veiled world of exceptional creative talent.
Chris added: “Our artists are incredibly talented and superb musicians and songwriters who would definitely have had professional careers or businesses in the music industry if it wasn’t for addiction. As a person in recovery myself, who has lived through the healing process, I am extremely happy that We Are Not Saints will be at the event, putting on an exceptional concert and supporting this great cause.”
